On the night of Wednesday through Thursday around 1:15 am, several dark-clad and masked people lit a battery of fireworks in front of the Einstein Hotel. The city police have been alerted and have appeared at the scene with two patrol cars. The hooded men fled while the fire burned and were able to flee from the police.
Oskar Schmucki, media spokesman for the city of St. Gallen police, says on request:
“The incident lasted about half a minute. The police could not detain anyone and only found the empty fireworks battery. ”
According to residents, there was another incident early in the morning. At around 5.15am there were two loud detonations. A resident suspects that “massive firecrackers” were detonated on Felsenstrasse. St. Gallen City Police cannot confirm the second incident upon request.
Was it the fans of the FCSG?
Spicy: According to Schmucki, the AEK Athens team is staying at the Hotel Einstein and will play the Europa League third qualifying round against FC St. Gallen on Thursday night at 8.30pm. With the current state of the investigation, Schmucki cannot enter into speculation that the fireworks battery was ignited as a disruptive action by FC St. Gallen Ultras.
