Unemployed Doctors, Crown Skeptics and Pandemic Autumn – That’s What the Sunday Press Writes

There are also crown skeptics among physicians. They support those who do not want to wear a mask. Y: Unemployment is slowly but surely spreading, just like the fall. How is all this supposed to be dealt with?

Corona skeptics are trying to circumvent the mask requirement. They are supported by physicians who are critical of federal measures online, and apparently actively undermine them as well, as SonntagsZeitung shows.

When asked about dispensing a mask, a Berne doctor specializing in psychiatry and psychotherapy wrote by email: “I would be happy to issue a medical certificate. For that I need an address and date of birth. In return, he asked for 20 francs, sent by letter.

He also wants support with a petition to the Federal Council against the mask requirement. The doctor is part of a network of crown skeptics. Among other things, it is listed on the “Doctors for Education” platform.

According to the Bern Health Directorate, the behavior of the doctor may result in disciplinary measures, as stated at the request of the SonntagsZeitung: “If there is not a thorough investigation, there is a violation of professional medical obligations.”

Hospitals needing explanation due to missed interventions

Even with hospitals, not everything is going well, as NZZ reports. An admission now calls health politicians to the scene. “The expected recovery effect after the closing phase on April 27 is not noticeable until the end of June,” the H + hospital association recently wrote. This finding is causing frowns: “The conclusion is obvious,” says CVP National Counselor Ruth Humbel, “that many of the planned interventions were not necessary. If something had been left out medically, patients would have been demanding their treatments for a long time. “

Humbel is not alone in this analysis. So, has Corona exposed the excess supply in the healthcare system? The center group asks for an analysis of the extent to which the ban on treatment prevented unnecessary interventions.

First job and already unemployed

Meanwhile, the crisis is becoming more and more notorious in the world of work: Young people in Switzerland have been shown to be particularly affected by the economic consequences of the corona pandemic. Today, nearly 2,500 trainees are unemployed. “It has become more difficult to find a job after basic vocational training or to find an apprenticeship after an apprenticeship has been terminated,” writes the federal government’s Professional Learning Perspective Task Force, as reported by SonntagsZeitung.

Ursula Renold is worried. She is the LehrstellenPuls team leader at ETH Zurich. “Young professionals are among the losers when the economy crashes,” he says. ZHAW’s Dirk Baier is investigating the consequences of the pandemic on young people and calls for action specifically for young people. For example, a kind of training pact or training guarantee. Also, young people need attention and care in their everyday surroundings, he says. “There must be room to address current concerns.”

Are nursing homes ready for the fall?

But not just the guys, sadly, under Corona. Autumn is of particular concern to older people. Because: Nursing homes were particularly affected during the first Corona wave. SonntagsBlick visited the Lindenhof health center in Oftringen AG to take a look.

Disinfectant dispensers in the hallways, protective masks for the nurses, and a request at the front desk to provide details for contact tracing make it clear to the visitor that the coronavirus is still present. And in the fall, the numbers could rise again. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare nursing homes. We will soon see if this is the case. Because fall is coming and Corona is still there, that’s for sure.
