With a dry press release, the state government released the Swiss in the New Year celebrations on Wednesday. In the last assessment of the situation in 2021, the Federal Council stated that the epidemiological situation was worrying. The continued high number of cases and the two much more contagious variants of the coronavirus that have been circulating in Switzerland for several days are cause for concern. However, the Federal Council saw no reason to act immediately. The measures that have been in place since December 22 continue to apply, but will not tighten or relax.
