According to federal councilor SVP, Ueli Maurer (69), “the economic consequences of the crisis in the Crown will keep us busy for years.” Not everyone is aware of this, Maurer said Saturday at the SVP digital delegates meeting. Health is important, Maurer said. “But we must not lose sight of the costs.” The SVP Federal Council also addressed the effects on the psyche, which should not be ignored.
The virus should end next year, Maurer said. The debts that Switzerland has now incurred due to the Crown crisis and the economic consequences “will keep us busy for years.” According to Maurer, unemployment figures are likely to rise and “we will have more bankruptcies than we would like.”
The SVP Federal Council also spoke about trends that concerned him: He met more and more people who were telling him that he should no longer speak his mind out loud. It should not be the case that people who have a different opinion are excluded. It is not acceptable that freedom of expression is restricted in a democracy. (SDA)
