Shortly before Trump’s tweet, another manufacturer, the American pharmaceutical company Moderna, presented data for its corona vaccine: 94.5 percent effective according to the company. The pharmaceutical supplier Lonza in Valais is said to produce the active ingredient. A production line is being installed at Visp and Lonza intends to start production there this year.
4.5 million doses of vaccine insured
The federal government already secured 4.5 million doses of Moderna vaccines in August. The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) assumes that the first vaccinations can also be carried out in Switzerland in the first half of 2021. Moderna’s vaccine can be stored for a comparatively long time at normal refrigerator temperature.
