Truck cuts Zurich tram: 14 injured

On Monday morning there was a collision between a truck and a tram in Zurich near the Letzigrund stadium. According to the police, 14 people were injured. The clash, which occurred shortly after 10 am, prompted a large-scale deployment of rescuers, as announced by the Zurich city police.

According to initial findings, a driver reversed his truck from the construction site on Campanellaweg towards Badenerstrasse. He collided with the passing tram on line 2, which was heading from Farbhof towards the city center.

As a result of the collision, the right side of the tram was severely cut into a length of about 13 meters. 14 people, seven women and seven men, including an 11-year-old boy, were injured on the busy tram. Of these, 12 people were slightly injured and two moderately injured. The injuries are mainly cuts and bruises.

The exact course of the accident is still being clarified. Property damage is likely to amount to several hundred thousand francs. Badenerstrasse will be closed for several hours. (mlu / sda)
