On Wednesday, shortly before 5 p.m., there was an explosion at the level crossing in Gränichen: A 61-year-old Toyota Corolla driver wanted to go from Suhrer to Nordstrasse. To do this, he had to cross the parallel track of the Aargau Verkehr Bahn. However, the woman lost the flashing light that warned her about the approaching train. When the Toyota was at the level crossing, the train headed for Gränichen crashed into its side.
No one was injured. “Particularly in the car, but also in the wagon, there was considerable damage to property,” said the Aargau canton police. The train was able to continue despite the damage, the railway line was briefly interrupted.
