For the first time in seven months, about 39 tourists from Shanghai landed at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday. They mark the return of tourism after the breaking of the country’s crown.
As “Der Farang” reports, most tourists want to take a beach holiday. About 100 more tourists from China are expected next Monday. There should be around 400 foreign tourists in Thailand by November 2.
New visa for tourists during the pandemic
All tourists are in possession of the new Special Tourist Visa (STV). According to Channel News Asia, this visa was launched by the Thai authorities in order to gradually increase tourism.
Visa requirements are high: tourists who stay at least 30 days receive a 90-day visa, which can be extended twice. After arrival: 2 weeks quarantine. Also, tourists should confirm that they have made arrangements for long-term accommodation.
You must also have special insurance policies and undergo a virus test before leaving. Downloading a tracking app is mandatory.
International safety standards
In an official press release, a Suvarnabhumi airport spokesperson announced that the airport is equipped to test tourists for Corona and deliver results within 90 minutes. All tourists have to go through three thermal scanners to get through the airport.
The governor of the tourism authority, Yuthanasak Supasorn, told the Reuters news agency that the unrest in Thailand had no impact on tourist interest in Thailand. “So far there have been no cancellations or inquiries.”
With protests, the protesters want to overthrow the old guard in Thailand. The government threatens severely and is trying to defend the status quo by all means. (my I)
