  • Sébastien Reichenbach (Groupama-FDJ) is at the forefront for a long time on the 16th stage of the Tour de France, but in 3rd place he misses a feat.
  • Lennard Kämna (Bora-hansgrohe) wins part of the Tour de France for the first time.
  • The favorites for leader Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) are slowing down, so there is no change in the overall classification.

On the sixteenth stage of the Tour de France, from La Tour-du-Pin to Villard-de-Lans, one of the four Swiss showed once again a committed performance: Swiss champion Sébastien Reichenbach found refuge early on in the group of 20-man escape, then moved on Along with the last stage winner Lennard Kämna, the pace increased and thus he was able to overtake all the riders except Richard Carapaz (Ineos).

However, Reichenbach was unable to follow the 24-year-old Kämna out on the last climb and had to carry it out. The German also outrun Carapaz and celebrated his first Tour de France stage victory at the finish. Reichenbach reached the finish line at Villard-de-Lans in third place, 1:56 minutes behind.

Everything is the same in the general ranking

Primoz Roglic defended the «Maillot jaune» with confidence. His fellow Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE) only put the favorite’s legs to the test with an attack shortly before the finish line, but the 30-year-old counterattacked without problems. Roglic is still 40 seconds ahead of Pogacar. Rigoberto Uran (EF) is third and 1:34 minutes behind.

As in stage 15, last year’s winner, Egan Bernal (Ineos), was unable to keep up with the other contenders in the general classification. The Colombian had to start early and is now 19:04 behind Roglic.

So it goes

On Wednesday’s Queen’s stage, a lot is being demanded of the drivers and the favorites in the general classification have to prove their worth once again. In the 170 kilometers from Grenoble to Méribel there are two climbs of the highest category of the program. In particular, the end of the mountain at Col de la Loze will probably provide more information in the general classification.
