Tour de France stage 15 – Defending champion Bernal loses Tour sport

• Defending champion Egan Bernal distances himself at the beginning of the final ascent of stage 15 of the Tour de France and loses more than seven minutes.

• Slovenian Tadej Pogacar secured victory of the day in the sprint ahead of his compatriot and leader Primoz Roglic.

After five consecutive victories in the Tour de France, the Ineos (ex-Sky) era should come to an end this year: captain Egan Bernal decisively distanced himself on stage 15. The Colombian lost 7:20 minutes on the final climb of the Grand Colombier and fell from the top 10 of the general classification.

Jumbo Visma Show of Strength

Primoz Roglic remains at the top. The Slovenian lost the final sprint to his compatriot Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates), but he has the strongest team: his Jumbo Visma team always had the action under control.

Pogacar is the first pursuer within 40 seconds of Roglic. Colombian third Rigoberto Uran (EF) is already 1:34 minutes behind.

Quintana is also far away

The final 17km long climb was a pure elimination race for the general classification hopefuls. In addition to Bernal, Nairo Quintana (Arkéa-Samsic) also lost time. The three-time Colombian podium rider lost 3:50 minutes to the Pogacar / Roglic duo.

The last weak hope of the Frenchman, Guillaume Martin of the Cofidis team, also lost more than three minutes. The best Swiss was Sébastien Reichenbach (Groupama-FDJ) with 16 years.

After the second rest day on Monday, the stage from La Tour-du-Pin to Villard-de-Lans is followed by a steady ups and downs with five mountain classifications on Tuesday. The destination is 1150 meters above sea level.
