  • The final two descents for men and women in Lenzerheide cannot take place. The FIS made this decision early Wednesday morning.
  • Due to weather conditions, like the two previous days, the necessary training sessions will not be possible on Wednesday.
  • This is the fourth time in a row that Beat Feuz has won the little crystal ball as the best downhill runner of the season. Sofia Goggia triumphs among women.

The organizers at the end of the season in Lenzerheide had fought until the end of the implementation of the last two races of the winter. But after the television inspection on Wednesday at 8:30 in the morning it was clear: the weather does not allow races.

The planned downhill training had to be canceled on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, the mandatory training should have been completed on Wednesday morning and the races should have been held later. But the weather didn’t allow it either. It is not possible to postpone the end of the season for technical reasons.

Feuz and Goggia are the best alpine skiers of the winter

This is the fourth time in a row that Beat Feuz is the winner of the little crystal ball. An eighth place at Lenzerheide would have been enough for Schangnauer to defend their lead over Vincent Kriechmayr. Feuz won with 68 points ahead of the Austrian world champion.

In the case of women, the discipline evaluation is for Sofia Goggia. The Italian was injured in January but was still able to defend her advantage. Corinne Suter was 70 points behind Goggia, Lara Gut-Behrami was third with 97.

Disadvantage for the Swiss in the fight for big balls

In the fight for the World Cup final, the rejection is particularly bitter from a Swiss point of view: Marco Odermatt could have recovered points over French leader Alexis Pinturault on relegation. The same happened with Gut-Behrami, currently second behind Slovakian coach Petra Vlhova in the battle for the big ball.
