9:09 a.m. – Airbus’ solution allows pallets of cargo instead of passenger seats. The aircraft manufacturer is developing a solution for the A330 and A350 that will allow airlines to install cargo pallets directly on the rails of the cabin floor seats after the economy class seats have been removed. Compared to loading cargo on the seats, this new Airbus solution makes loading and unloading quicker and easier, as well as less wear on the seats. Other important benefits include added safety thanks to robust fire protection and the option to load 9g to ensure that something doesn’t change during flight.

8:37 pm: 1.5 billion fewer passengers. The International Civil Aviation Organization has released its first full passenger forecast for 2020. It shows that airlines may face 1.5 billion fewer international air travelers this year.
4:04 pm: Innsbruck opens for small planes.
