- EV Zug wins a spectacular game at ZSC Lions 6: 3.
- Jan Kovar’s beautiful 1-0 for EVZ is worth watching.
- 5 of the total of 9 goals fall in the power game.
2 minutes of penalty from the opponent, 5:11 minutes of play, 1 relief pass in 5 stations and a strong shot to the inside post in the goal of Jan Kovar. That was the recipe for EV Zug’s 1-0 lead in the main game at the ZSC Lions.
This tour was the logical consequence, because the guests from Central Switzerland were clearly the best team in the opening phase. Also because the people of Zurich made life more difficult with unnecessary punishments. Within 7 minutes of the 1-0 victory, Zug was able to act with a double majority and reached 2-0 thanks to the double kovar. For the Czech they were the first two goals of the season.
The Punishment Festival continues
After the first break, the Zurich leaders performed significantly better. Raphael Prassl and Justin Sigrist had a chance to score the next goal after a good 5 minutes. After surviving an undernumbered game, the hosts were able to play overnumbered twice 8 minutes before the second break and used this for 1: 2 via Fredrik Pettersson. Double scorer Jan Kovar had slightly deflected his shot, who was involved in the first 3 shots of the night.
In the 37th minute, the Zurich team received their eighth single penalty and were immediately punished again with a goal. Zug’s Sven Senteler came relatively free in front of Ludovic Waeber and left the 24-year-old goalkeeper with his 3-1 wrist shot out of the question.
First goal in 5 against 5
In the last part of the game, the Zurich team pressed 2: 3 from the beginning. And the effort was worth it. Denis Hollenstein scored the connecting goal in the 42nd minute with a penalty. As Zug captain Raphael Diaz also had to serve a penalty, Chris Baltisberger managed to equalize for the majority just 51 seconds later. It was already the 5 strokes of power that night at the Hallenstadion in Zurich.
The first hit in the 5v5 game lasted until the 49th minute. Yannick Zehnder returned the guests to the front with a solid shot under the crossbar, 4: 3. Three good minutes later, Jérôme Bachofner restored the old 2-goal lead to 5 : 3. ZSC goalkeeper Ludovic Waeber had conceded the same number of goals as in the entire season.
The next duel in a good 24 hours
In the last goal of the afternoon, Waeber was just a spectator. Yannick-Lennart Albrecht and his Empty-Netter made it 6: 3 with 1 second left.
For the ZSC it was the third loss of the season in the eighth game. With the fifth victory in the sixth game, Zug ranks second in the table. The two teams will meet again in Zug on Friday.
