Loïc Meillard, Justin Murisier and Marco Odermatt all tested positive for the corona virus. Other samples within the team were negative.

The Swiss alpine ski team faces three positive tests for coronavirus in men. Those affected are Loïc Meillard and Justin Murisier from western Switzerland and Marco Odermatt from central Switzerland. The three athletes are isolated. They show only mild or no cold symptoms.

No more distribution?

The damage to the Swiss team may be limited, because the giant slalom specialists weren’t in a training ground, they were alone. “They had no contact with each other or with officials,” emphasized a Swiss Ski spokeswoman when asked. Therefore, there is hardly any risk that all equipment will be completely excluded. This weekend, for example, the women’s slaloms in Finland will take place without the Swedes. After a corona case in the technical team, the entire team was quarantined by the Finnish authorities.

The truth is that Meillard, Murisier and Odermatt will be canceled for the World Cup in Lech / Zürs. In Vorarlberg, men and women will hold a parallel race every Thursday and Friday.

The trio should be eligible to start over at the two giant slaloms in Val-d’Isère on December 5th and 6th. At the season opener in Sölden, both Odermatt (2nd place), Meillard (5th) and Murisier (11th) were convincing.

Holdener: “Shiffrin’s return won’t change anything for me”

With 26th place in the Sölden Giant Slalom, Wendy Holdener did not start the season in October as she wanted. More so, he wants to attack in Levi’s next two slaloms. Kiko and Manu Rothmund spoke with Schwyzerin.
