It’s New Years Eve in London. James and Jenny stand on the south bank of the Thames and look at Westminster. Despite the stay-at-home warning, they want to hear “the ringing of the bell” with which Britain says goodbye to the EU closely.

It’s around 11pm and a couple of young men in Union Jack are walking past them on their way to Big Ben. “We finally made it, now everything will be better!” Someone yells happily. Jenny, who is a teacher at a South London school, responds dryly, “We’ll see.”
