  • In the canton of Ticino, hospitals are arming again for more Covid-19 patients.
  • The so-called electoral interventions would be reduced and holidays would be canceled, said cantonal doctor Giorgio Merlani in front of the media.
  • The number of patients who currently have to be admitted to the hospital for an infection is higher than those discharged.

The canton has reported more than 80 people in hospital care in recent days. The last time, Friday, was 89.

Ten people had to be treated in intensive care units on Friday. The number of intensive care patients was in double digits for the first time since early March. However, as of January 1, 47 people were still in intensive care and 366 in a hospital.

The Canton Ticino doctor, Giorgio Merlani, asked the population to be careful during Easter days. Even if many older people are already vaccinated, it is still important to reduce the number of contacts. He suggested holding family gatherings outdoors.
