That pleases a sweet tooth! Starting in April next year, Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate will also be on sale in Migros stores. The orange retail giant is expanding its chocolate range, which was previously dominated by its own Frey brand, to include Lindt and Toblerone, which is owned by the Mondelez group.
Lindt and Toblerone products will be available to purchase at all Migros branches in Switzerland, Migros said. As early as the summer, the media reported that some co-op bosses were toying with Lindt’s inclusion in the range.
75 percent own brands
However, Frey should continue to provide most of the range, Migros continued. Migros’s own brand share will remain at around 75 percent.
Lindt & Sprüngli celebrates its 175th anniversary in 2020. The traditional company with roots in Zurich is now a world leader in the premium chocolate sector. Lindt & Sprüngli’s quality chocolates are now produced in 11 of its own production facilities in Europe and the United States.
From now on also Toblerone
The traditional Swiss chocolate Toblerone has been noted for its iconic triangular shape since 1908. The Bern plant is the only Toblerone production plant in the world and therefore Toblerone bears the full “Swiss made” label. Toblerone is not only enjoyed in Switzerland, around 120 countries around the world are supplied from Bern. (SDA / bp)
