The first snow is here. The ski season is approaching. But there is still no federal government winter protection concept for cable cars. That should change now. Mountain railways don’t want to wait any longer. You make suggestions yourself.
The result: snow fans should protect themselves with antibacterial neck tubes. The “Tages-Anzeiger” learned of this from the Swiss Cable Car Association, in which most of the mountain railways are organized.
Instead of donning and doffing a mask before each lift, the tube is simply placed over the mouth and nose. That keeps you warm and protects you.
Ski pass with neck tube
And that’s not all. According to the newspaper, the mountain railways are even considering offering the neck tube with the passes for free. To do this, they are already busy buying the new fashionable accessory with protective function for winter.
The Pool-Alpin company is responsible for the action. Organize equipment purchases on behalf of numerous ski areas in Switzerland. Besides the purchase, he also has a good 10,000 pieces produced himself, according to the newspaper, all with built-in bacterial protection, of course.
No concept of official protection
There is a high level of uncertainty when planning a ski vacation. This worries many mountain train operators. The first ski areas, such as the Fideriser Heuberge ski area, have already decided not to start operating in winter.
“We have been demanding for weeks and months the Federal Council to inform the population that winter is occurring, that skiing will also be safe and healthy next season,” said association president and FDP advisor for Nidwalden, Hans Wicki, in front of the newspaper.
There is a protection concept for mountain railways for the summer. But that for winter may differ a bit. “However, mountain railway operators need to prepare for the fact that they have to transport more people in winter. For example, they have to plan more space to queue at the valley station, ”says Wicki.
Will there be après-ski?
In Austria, the first measures for the next season are already determined: There will be no après-ski with the neighbors in winter. In Switzerland, this matter is not yet decided. Après-ski hotspots are still planning to operate here, albeit on a limited basis.
“Admission is controlled, personal data is recorded. The operation will be a challenge, but we want to do it really well, ”says Bergbahndirektor Philipp Holenstein.
