The filmmakers justified the move with the fact that the film could be seen by a worldwide movie audience. A connection to the corona virus was not explicitly mentioned. Due to the pandemic, cinemas in some countries are currently closed or have limited capacity.
It is the fourth postponement of the film. The release of the 25th Bond film, the last with Daniel Craig as 007, was postponed from October 2019 to February 2020 following a director change.
