The Weeknd got excited at the Super Bowl and a new meme was born
Canadian rapper The Weeknd caused a stir with his appearance on the famous Super Bowl halftime show. The 30-year-old star got out of a sports car at the Tampa, Florida, station on Sunday and, wearing a red glitter jacket, made a medley of his hits “Blinding Lights” and “I Feel It Coming.”
The artist was supported in the futuristic and glamorous interlude by hundreds of dancers and various fireworks. A portion of the show where the singer was filmed in a mirror cabinet with a shaking camera and turned around in the process also generated a lot of comments on social media.

The Weeknd succeeded Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, who caused a stir at the Super Bowl last year. Especially Lopez’s appearance sparked discussions about the seemingly flawless youthful body. The halftime show of the NFL final of the National Football League is typically watched by more than 100 million people in the United States alone.
Shortly before the start of the Super Bowl, 22-year-old American star poet Amanda Gorman read a poem honoring the important workers of the Corona crisis. Gorman praised “essential workers” such as medical workers, educators, and truckers in his recorded contribution. Before the NFL final, he also commemorated the victims of the pandemic and called for solidarity in society to fight together against the crisis.
Gorman was already the secret star when US President Joe Biden took office a few weeks ago. With a poem intertwining the story of her own life with the harsh social reality of the United States, the poet made what was probably the most sensational appearance in Washington.
