For weeks, mysterious monoliths have appeared in many parts of the world. In Switzerland too. The first copy in this country was discovered last week by castle warden Samuel Widmer during a morning inspection at Liebegg Castle in Gränichen AG.
The sculpture was located exactly in the middle of an arena. The monolith was installed as if by magic: “No footsteps can be seen, although it snowed overnight,” Widmer told BLICK at the time. After a day, the sculpture disappeared again without a trace.
Now it is clear: they were not aliens. The witch museum located in the castle is also not responsible for the ghost. At least in the case of the Aargau Monolith, it’s also not an ad campaign for a Netflix series, as has been speculated in various ways. Rather, three friends of Aargau are behind the action in the castle park. TeleM1 reported Thursday.
The builders were shocked
One of the builders, Luca Arber, tells how he and his friends came up with the idea of installing the monolith at Liebegg Castle: “We sat down together and read an article about the first monolith in America. Then we looked at each other and knew we wanted to do that before someone else in Switzerland did it. “
They were given 24 hours, Arber continues. Then, just before it started to snow at night, the three friends installed the sculpture in the palace gardens.
The next day, the monolith caused a sensation. BLICK also reported on it. The plant also attracted numerous spectators. Co-builder René Fäsler: “We didn’t expect it.”
The man in the community is happy
When the friends wanted to dismantle the monolith again, the spectators were outside Liebegg Castle. Michael Klauser, the third member of the group, told the television station: “There was a couple looking for the monolith. Then we just help with the search. ”However, it was a long time until they were alone and they were finally able to take the monolith with them.
The monolith is now back where friends originally placed it. Mayor Peter Stirnemann and those in charge of the palace wanted that. It fits here. It’s right in the middle of the sand, ”says Stirnemann. A building permit is not required for the monolith, because with a size of 2.4 meters it is not included in the provisions of the building law.
