The Swiss adopted the hygienic mask relatively quickly as an important preventive tool against coronavirus. This is demonstrated by a study by the Sotomo research center on behalf of the BAG. The SwissCovid app, on the other hand, has not yet enjoyed wide acceptance.
According to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Friday, the number of active users of the SwissCovid app was 1.52 million. People who have not installed the app give various reasons for this, as shown by the fifth collection of data to measure the effectiveness of prevention work by the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG).
“I interpret it as widespread discomfort with the application,” study leader Michael Hermann told the media in Bern on Friday. After all, 40 percent of all those who have not installed the SwissCovid app so far claim that they could change their minds if the number of cases increases dramatically.
“Don’t wait so long for the number of cases to increase and download the application,” said Sang-Il Kim, Head of Digital Transformation at FOPH, at the press conference. He explained the connection between the app’s warning and contact tracing. “People with warning codes should also contact the cantons to discuss how to proceed.”
