Stefan Kuster is already resigning as head of the department of communicable diseases at the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). He wants to continue working for the authority on a mandate basis going forward, as the BAG confirmed on Wednesday a report from Blick-Online.

At his request, Kuster would relinquish management of the communicable disease department no later than December 1, the BAG confirmed upon request. It will focus on the epidemiological aspects of mandated crisis management.

In late March, Kuster took over the leadership of the communicable disease department from Daniel Koch, who became known as “Mister Corona.” Koch then continued his role as a Covid-19 delegate until the end of May before finally retiring.
