Not only Switzerland has taken the reins more firmly in their hands with the crown measures. Germany is also getting serious again.
In several German subareas, regulations for the holiday season are significantly tightened. Right at the forefront: the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg. This also has implications for the Swiss who want to go shopping in the neighboring country at the weekend.
No quarantine after crossing the border
From Saturday, stricter exit restrictions will be applied again throughout Baden-Württemberg. The motto is clear: “People, stay home,” Winfried Kretschmann (72), state prime minister, said on Friday. Only those who have a valid reason should leave home for at least four weeks.
No more alcohol served in public places, shops must close no later than 8 pm, practically full curfew at night; With measures like these, the pandemic in the northern neighbors must be controlled again.
Swiss people who want to go shopping across the borders to Germany over the weekend are just as affected by the adjustments as the locals, confirms the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration at BLICK’s request. However, border crossings remain for the time being without a subsequent quarantine obligation.
The blockade will probably come, but when?
It is true that it is still possible to buy at outlets in cities like Konstanz, Waldshut or Singen. But that could change this Sunday. Then Federal Chancellor Merkel (66) will consult with the prime minister about further adjustment. A complete blockade is still a possible scenario.
The contagion figures in southwestern Germany are “terrifying”, said Winfried Kretschmann. That is why Baden-Württemberg has already gone ahead with the stricter rules. The prime minister also dared to make a grim prognosis: If not on Sunday, the shutdown in the neighboring state should occur after Christmas at the latest. Then it would probably last until at least January 10. (cat)
