In Basel on Thursday night, a motorcyclist sped down Hafenstrasse at 102 kilometers per hour instead of the permitted 40 km / h. He faces jail.
The speeding violation was recorded during a traffic control at 7.40 pm, as announced by the police of the canton of Basel-Stadt on Friday. The 23-year-old’s motorcycle license and driver’s license for all previously purchased categories were instantly withdrawn. The two-wheeler was impounded.
The incident is, according to the Via Sicura regulation, a speeding violation, as further stated. The driver is referred to the Basel-Stadt prosecutor’s office. He faces a prison term of one to four years. The driver’s license is withdrawn for at least two years. In case of recurrence, there is a risk of withdrawal for ten years.
