Temperatures are rising, holiday feelings are high, and summer vacations are drawing near. But the corona virus is foiling these plans. Flights are canceled, cruises or tour packages are canceled. Now what?

“Summer holidays abroad are questionable”

At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Federal Councilors Karin Keller-Sutter and Viola Amherd reported on the current “vacation situation.” Justice Minister Keller-Sutter has toned down Swiss expectations for an early holiday abroad. “It is still questionable whether summer vacations will be possible abroad near the border.” Keller-Sutter asked to plan a vacation in Switzerland.

A break from everyday life, leaving the family environment for a few days; either by train or by car. Sometimes you just need a little break. Often you don’t have to go that far.

Our top 5:

The Bachalpsee

A picturesque mountain lake on the ridge above Grindelwald in the Bernese Alps. An impressive sight:

Lavertezzo

The small community of Lavertezzo is located in the Swiss valley of Verzasca, near Lake Maggiore, and belongs to the Locarno district. A natural pool and crystal clear waters: worth the trip. If you not only want to be surprised, but also swim, you must come in the months of July to September.

The Gigerwaldsee

The Gigerwaldsee is located in Calfeisental. The reservoir is located in the municipality of Pfäfers in the canton of St. Gallen. Due to the spectacular location, the Gigerwaldsee is definitely worth a visit.

The Oeschinensee

It is located on Kandersteg: a lake surrounded by mountains. True to the motto: “A dream in blue”, you can marvel at the beautiful view, because the lake impresses above all with its beautiful blue color.

Alpstein in the Appenzellerland

You can choose from countless hiking trails: from a simple hike to a demanding mountain hike. There is a suitable route for everyone here. And the view is definitely worth it.
