But in the Spanish capital, the number of infections has been cut in half in the last six weeks. That’s a surprise, after all, that was it. Infections in Madrid remain completely out of control in September.
A few weeks ago Madrid was still that Center of the pandemic in Europe. The 14-day incidence is now lower in the Spanish capital than in Berlin, for example, where measures were taken very early. In Spain only the Balearic Islands, Galicia, the Canary Islands and Valencia have even better values. From 6,960 new infections on Sept. 18, the peak of the second wave, the number of new cases dropped to a tenth, to 627 new infections this week on Tuesday. In the Spanish media there is already talk of the “miracle of Madrid”.
