In Grossdietwil LU, you cut yourself with a different fabric. There have been discussions for months. And for one reason: four illegally felled trees. Three firs and a beech. Everything is covered by a legally valid penalty order (there is a VISTA)! It says that Mayor Josef Müller (58, CVP) is responsible for the deforestation. The farmer did this in mid-January without permission from the forest service. Although he knew that the trees belong to the royal corporation, a community that manages 69 hectares of forest.
Müller was convicted of “damaging property and felling trees without a permit.” He received a fine of 800 francs and 530 francs in court costs. For him, the matter ends with: “I have paid and accept the sentence,” he tells SEE. “The trees were infested with the bark beetle. They bordered my own forest that I wanted to protect. “He was acquitted of theft. Müller felled the trees, but did not take them away, but left them at the crime scene.
Three resignations for four trees
Since then, the people’s blessing has been hanging crooked in Grossdietwil. The “Willisauer Bote” reported several times about the dispute. The convicted mayor, himself a member of the corporation, resigned as chairman of the audit committee.
The president of the corporation did the same. Thomas Koller (45, SVP) resigned after 14 years. “The ending hurts,” he tells VIEW. «They were good years. But if the laws are not taken seriously, I no longer want to. “His colleague on the council, forest manager Daniel Scheidegger (57), is the same. He also took a step back.
Koller and Scheidegger alerted police in the spring when they discovered the illegally felled trees. “At the time we didn’t know who was responsible,” says Koller. “We only had one guess.” There was a complaint against unknown persons and finally a conviction. There was criticism for both.
“The procedure with the announcements has no level”
This can be seen in the minutes of the corporation’s meeting on July 22. “President Koller mixes legal and emotional issues,” says one member. Another says, “You can talk to each other. The ad procedure is the lowest level. “But the former president also received support:” You can’t just take what you want. “
Koller said: “It was a legal foul. Our mayor has criminalized himself. “Shows SEE the felled trees at the site. These were, if anything, only weakly infested by the bark beetle. Koller now demands that the mayor buy the felled wood, which he does not want. New elections are scheduled for the corporation in the fall, one can only hope that by then one can see the forest again despite the trees.
