Everyone thought they had known for weeks. When Dieter Hallervorden, one of the best comedians Germany has ever produced, really came out behind the chameleon mask, the surprise was somehow great. Joy, of course, too.
The five celebrities left on “The Masked Singer” had to show up in their heavyweight suits Tuesday night for the grand finale. As a guest judge on board this time: ESC winner Conchita Wurst, who had barely made it to the broadcast because the police had previously detained him at the airport.
Briefly about dramaturgy: In addition to a classic duel, there was also a three-way battle that night. The three losers in the matches had to shake the stage a second time.
“The Masked Singer”: boring introduction, entertaining kite show
Once again an endless introduction that was completely irrelevant to the content was followed by the first duel of the night. The chameleon was condemned to sing against the dragon, the king of the vocal cords. While the green iguana with a terrible “D.I.S.C.O.” The French band Ottawan once again revealed their talent for inadequate singing, the dragon once again delivered the best products with “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera.
Garvey also found his performance just for “Wow, wow, wow!”, But he didn’t miss a chance to mention the humble English pronunciation of the mythical animal. It was pretty clear to everyone that Gregor Meyle had been behind the dragon for weeks.
Conchita well prepared, lazy victorious
Why the ProSieben station has constantly budgeted for ten minutes for each message that can be placed in less than 30 seconds remains a mystery. Generous evaporation would do the format well. Speaking of steam: A lot of that was behind the whispering appearance, which was the first of the next triathlon to take the stage and hit a flawless “Valerie” by Amy Winhouse. “What a great voice,” said Conchita, who probably had to learn about 500 German B and C celebrity names beforehand to be able to at least participate in the show with the core team.
The appearances of the buzzing rabbit and the lazy colleague, who played unusually high notes and tried rap in the meantime, sucked hugely compared to that of the whisper. And yet, it was the laziness that viewers chose directly to the final.
Spectators of the masked singer wanted to know
The fact that the chameleon sang in the battle of the losers in three bands compared to the opposite was mainly due to the fact that he forgot half of the text, but at least it disturbed him. At this point, it was hard to imagine that Dieter Hallervorden, 84, could be behind him. “I’m a big fan of the chameleon,” said Conchita. Wuschel then sent out the voice of his friendly boy band about Shawn Mendes’ “Treat It Better”.
However, the hare completed the last appearance in the competition of the night. Rae Garvey said “That was great” about the ambitious but far from the long-ear vocal performance, but it sounded as distracted as if she was going through the shopping list for tomorrow again in her mind. Full concentration for three hours? Nor is it easy for an Irish television professional. Then the surprise of the night: viewers wanted to see the bumblebee and rabbit in the finale. And apparently just find out if it’s actually Hallervorden who’s been dancing like a chameleon on Tuesday nights for weeks.
“It should be Didi.” And it was Didi
“Now I’m so excited. It should be Didi,” said Rea Garvey shortly before the chameleon was unmasked. When the mask of the public’s green favorite fell, even those who had suspected it for weeks could hardly believe it: Dieter Hallervorden removed his costume. “It really is the greatest honor he could have given us here,” said a moved Ruth Moschner, who would have liked to receive an oxygen bottle.
Then Didi Hallervorden: “It was a lot of fun for me. Despite my age, I was always a child. But it was a great challenge because singing is not really my main talent.” When the semifinal was reached, the legend of the comedian was, who again on the track “D.I.S.C.O.” tried, quite satisfied.

The bat was able to hide his identity to the end. The audience guessed Lena Meyer-Landruth. Elton, Rea and Ruth, however, were suspicious of the model Franziska Knuppe. And they should be right. The bat is Franziska Knuppe. © ProSiebenSat.1
