The Corona crisis hit many sports clubs hard. Professional clubs depend on the income of the audience. They make up a large part of the budget. Clubs have been losing this revenue for months. Corona vaccination is now making many dream of stadiums reopening.
So does Giorgio Behr (72), businessman and president of the Kadetten Schaffhausen handball club. In an interview with the “Aargauer Zeitung” he says: “From the moment that a large number of people have been vaccinated or have had the opportunity to do so, you have to check the measures, even in professional sport.”
Strict separation in the stadium
The mask is mandatory and, of course, it would still be necessary to keep your distance. But: “You have to differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated people. If the danger is contained thanks to the vaccination at the national level, I do not see any obligation to remain cautious with the use of stadiums, ”says Behr.
What Behr proposes amounts to a two-class society. And it houses huge explosives, also from an ethical point of view. «I am in favor of a rupture. Take a game of handball in Schaffhausen. Vaccinated and unvaccinated people should be separated in front of the stadium, ”Behr said. They must not come into contact with each other, use different entrances and sit in different stands.
“Presale only for vaccinated people”
But that’s not all: Behr doesn’t want to measure vaccinated fans in front of the stadium. “As an organizer, we have a certain responsibility if unvaccinated people are admitted,” he tells the “Aargauer Zeitung”. He couldn’t tell anyone to get vaccinated. “But as an organizer, I cannot grant those who are not vaccinated the same freedoms as those who have been vaccinated.” For example, Behr can imagine opening advance sales of the best games just for vaccinated people.
