Thousands of people will flock to the Suisse Caravan Salon on the Bernexpo site starting Thursday. According to the organizers, it is probably the largest trade fair in Switzerland since the beginning of the corona pandemic.
The Federal Council makes it possible: in June it declared that trade shows can no longer be generally classified as large events. Therefore, the caravan hall is not subject to the controversial ban on events with more than 1000 visitors that the Canton of Bern issued a few days ago. “As a trade fair, the Suisse Caravan Salon is not classified as a major event, but is evaluated in the same way as markets, shopping malls and similar meeting areas,” explains Bernexpo spokesperson Adrian Erni, the legal situation .
