The cantons of Eastern Switzerland have been the center of attention across the country in recent days. St. Gallen, in particular, has attracted attention due to the sharp increase in the number of cases and an above-average death rate. The canton responded Wednesday with additional measures. Since Saturday, gatherings of more than 10 people in public spaces are prohibited. The measures will remain in effect until there is a sustained decrease in the number of cases. On Saturday, the government of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, one of the last cantons in eastern Switzerland, decided to ban the gathering of more than 10 people in public spaces.
