The day after the BR decision: Swiss football in search of solutions – sport

At its press conference on April 29, the Federal Council provided the long-awaited key figures for Swiss sport, especially soccer. Now the association, leagues and clubs are looking for solutions for the 2019/20 season.

The Swiss Football Association (SFV) has already hit the nail on Thursday afternoon. He stated that all the championships on the amateur field, including women’s football, ended. «First of all, we are very sad. Second, this decision at least creates clarity, “SFV Secretary-General Robert Breiter told SRF.

After the Federal Council decision, SFV had no choice. Because from May 11, the state government will only allow the training of teams in the (semi) professional area.

SFL: video conference, but not a decision

The most important decisions still have to be made by the Swiss Football League (SFL), which is responsible for the Super League and the Challenge League. The subsequent course of the season has not yet been decided. The SFL committee discussed this issue on Thursday.

The result of the detailed videoconference of the nine-member committee is understandably manageable. There are still too many ambiguities and contingencies. Organizational, health and financial issues need to be clarified.

It may take a while before a decision is made. One thing is clear today: When the season ends, ghost games are the only option.

We need financial support. Not only soccer, sport in general.

In the SRF interview, Breiter explained the SFV’s vision of ghost games: “In the association, of course, we are for soccer and not against it. We would appreciate a continuation of the championship ».

Ghost games: YB for, FCB against

But even on this issue there is disagreement between professional clubs. Had FCB President Bernhard Burgener spoke clearly against spectatorless games on Tuesday, YB Sports Director Christoph Spycher sees the situation very differently.

“We have a social responsibility. Towards sponsors, fans and players, “Spycher said in an interview. Ghost games are not the desired solution, but the best solution. Spycher asks for additional federal aid for the clubs. “We need financial support. Not only football, sport in general ».
