In November 2019, Digitec opened its 11th Swiss branch in Langendorf with cork stoppers and Solothurn tart. It was the first Digitec branch in a Migros shopping center. It replaced Migros specialty distributor Melectronics.
At that time, Florian Teuteberg, CEO of Digitec Galaxus, told this newspaper that it was a kind of test. It will be checked whether Ladingorf customers receive the store concept.
After a year it is clear: “Our concept of a collection point with a showroom does not suit the customers of the Migros Ladedorf shopping center,” Digitec explains on request. “The Langendorf branch in Solothurn, which we took over from Melectronics a year ago, will close in early 2021.”
Today, seven employees work at the branch, three of them full-time and the others part-time. You have been offered to work at another Digitec branch, for example in Bern. “The majority of the workforce has already accepted this offer,” explains Digitec’s media manager.
And the cargo town?
According to the media office, Migros is in talks with potential new tenants. The cargo town remains the most popular shopping center in the region. “The wishes and requirements of customers, with or without Covid-19, are subject to constant change, to which we will react again and again, also in the future, with new and exciting offers,” explains Migros. It is unclear what exactly this means for the Langendörfer shopping center. (jfr)
