In a test carried out by Uefa, the two Salzburg players Sekou Koita and Mohamed Camara from Mali tested positive for doping. The test took place a few days after his return to Salzburg from the Mali national team. It is said to be a remedy for altitude sickness.

The two players agreed that the drug was administered by the Mali national team medical team before the away game in Namibia.

Research announced

The club will make every effort in cooperation with UEFA and the authorities to obtain full clarification of the events in Mali, Salzburg said in the statement.

Salzburg Managing Director Stephan Reiter did not skimp on criticism of the Mali national team: “We are very proud when our players are called up to their respective national teams. But especially with an international match, it can and should be expected that medical care meets international standards and that doctors are familiar with the applicable rules. “
