The counselor set a new world record on the treadmill in Olten for 2: 56.35 hours over 50 km.
Matthias Kyburz has achieved his ambitious goal: During Corona’s mandatory break, the coach had set himself the goal of breaking the world record for over 50 km in Olten, indoors, on a treadmill. And the 30-year-old Aargau player never let his goal drive him away. He covered the distance in 2: 56.35 hours and set a new record.
Significantly faster than previous record holder
In doing so, Kyburz, who also raised donations on National Day of Swiss Solidarity, undermines Florian Neuschwander’s world record in almost a minute. The German had completed the 50 km at the end of February this year in 2:57.25 hours.
Shortly after the end of the race, Kyburz was pleased: “It is incredible that I managed to do it.” It became difficult after 30 km, at 38 km he even felt dizzy, but the Aargauer got up again.
I’ll go home, lie on the couch and eat a lot of chocolate.
When asked how he would recover now, Kyburz was joking again. “I’m going home, as everyone should, I’m going to lie on the couch and eat a lot of chocolate.” Only on a treadmill no one will catch you that fast.
