(dpa) According to information from the DPA news agency, the federal police decided to accept the visit to the mother this Sunday as a valid reason to enter Germany.

Upon request, the Federal Police announced that the prerequisite for special permission for Mother’s Day was that the return trip must be made the same day. This Sunday also allows a visit to a mother who lives abroad who is not German and who wants to visit her children who live in Germany on Mother’s Day.

For weeks, only those who have an important reason can enter the country. These are, for example, truckers, members of the medical profession, or travelers from the border region. There are also stationary border controls at the borders with Switzerland, Denmark, France, Luxembourg and Austria. “The information given during entry control must be credible and verifiable,” federal police said Sunday.

Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) ordered controls in mid-March to curb the spread of Covid-19 lung disease in Germany. Some politicians in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Luxembourg have been calling for an end to the controls for days, which, according to the current state, should continue until next Friday.
