Since Sunday’s Telebasel article, Daniel Quenet has received several offers of help. He should have left his farm in Beinwil last Friday because the owner canceled his lease. Since he has no successor solution, he kept his animals. Now they threaten him with eviction and his animals with emergency slaughter.
Various offers of help
In recent days, he and Telebasel’s editorial team have directly received several offers of help. Daniel Quenet finds it hard to believe the wave of solidarity that hits him: “I want to thank everyone.” The offers come from individuals and institutions in the region, on the other side of the Jura and even eastern Switzerland.
Kangaroo farming in Nenzlingen offers help
One example among many is the offer of help from Jeannette Egli. Together with her husband, she runs a kangaroo breeding station and a sanctuary for exotic animals. As part of the Starlight circus ensemble, he took on circus animals more than 30 years ago when it was decided to no longer take them on tour. This compromise resulted in today’s rescue center in Nenzlingen.
Jeannette Egli networks with various activists for animal rights and animal shelters in Switzerland. Therefore, he would very much like to work to ensure that the animals of Beinwil have a new place. When he heard that animals might have to be euthanized in an emergency, he immediately decided to help. She is always on the spot if she only hears this word.
We passed the offer from Egli to Daniel Quenet. You are currently reviewing the various support offers.
Hope for a new farm remains
He assures you that your animals are probably now saved. But he would rather find a new farm so he can continue living with his animals. A couple of friends even offered to take a farm with him. You are willing to see farms within an hour’s drive from Basel. If the offers come from further afield, you would first have to clarify whether you could change jobs. He currently works as a parcel postman in the Basel area.
