On New Year’s Eve, around 4 am, a fire broke out in the playground area of the Tännligarten forest in Sissach. No person was injured, according to the Basel police.
The corresponding report was received on Friday morning at 3:54 am at the Basel-Landschaft police operations control center.
When emergency services arrived at the scene of the fire, the fire had already spread throughout the entire forest yard area. The fire was quickly contained by firefighters and eventually extinguished, the message continues.
Facilities destroyed
The facilities in the forest patio area were largely destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire has yet to be conclusively determined and is the subject of further clarification.
Basel-Landschaft police are looking for witnesses. Persons who can provide relevant information are requested to present themselves at the Liestal operations control center.
