VISTA: Aline Danioth, a good month ago was seriously injured. Only now are they speaking publicly. Did you need this time?
Aline Danioth: Yes, this time already. It was a very hard blow. I had a mess on my head and had to fix it first.
You were back from a torn cruciate ligament. Does the renewed wound make it even more bitter?
I gave it my all for my return for months and I felt better than ever in training. And then this accident. I don’t know what I should have done differently.
Have you looked for the reasons?
In any case. My first thought after hearing the knock on my knee was, what did I do wrong? But in the end he got stupid.
What exactly happened
The snow was very aggressive, I was in my fifth practice race. A great day. Then I was a little late to a corner, I sat too far back. The ski grabbed and the pressure came. That’s when it happened.
They have already had an operation. The drilling channels from the last operation were filled with bone material. Whats Next?
I usually have to wait four months before the cruciate ligament is replaced. But ultimately the X-rays will show when the time has come.
What are you doing in the meantime?
I will be flying to Hawaii in December for a six week language stay. I just have to get away from the things I love so much: winter and skiing.
Do you want to clear your head?
I agree. I will also do my strength and conditioning program in Hawaii. But I want to disconnect, climb volcanoes, ride a bike. And I’ll be in the water a lot.
But you don’t surf, do you?
It’s probably not possible, no (smile)
At the age of 22 already five knee operations. Is resignation not a problem?
I’m already thinking about what plan B would be like. And I’m also open to ideas. But I don’t think there is anything in life that I can enjoy as much as skiing.
You can also spend your free time in the snow.
That is not the same. I am a competitive guy, I need the goals and the challenge. My heart can hardly bear the fact that I can’t ski again. But I keep fighting, that’s how I’m done
