On Saturday, Swissmedic, the drug licensing authority, staged a coup. Switzerland was the first country in the world to approve Pfizer / Biontech’s Covid-19 vaccine in an orderly process, the authority proudly announced. Health Minister Alain Berset is also pleased with the “good news” in a Twitter statement and emphasizes that vaccinations could “begin in the next few days.” Therefore, it is putting pressure on the cantons that are in charge of distributing the vaccines.
