On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 2 pm, there was a knife fight in a large department store in Lugano. As announced by the canton of Ticino police, the perpetrator is a 28-year-old Swiss woman. One person was seriously injured.
According to a first reconstruction of the course of events, the woman, who lives in the Lugano region, attacked two women: the first grabbed her by the neck with her bare hands, while the second injured her neck with a sharp weapon.
Victims who are not in danger of death
One of the two victims suffered serious injuries but is not in danger of death, the canton of Ticino police continue to write. The perpetrator was detained by a couple and later arrested by the police.
A terrorist background for the crime cannot be ruled out, the canton of Ticino police write in conclusion. Therefore, it is working closely with the Federal Police Office (Fedpol) to deal with the case.
