Regio League cancels championships from league 2 onwards
The Ice Hockey Regio League decided to definitively end the season in the lower leagues. These include the 2nd, 3rd and 4th league, Swiss women’s hockey league C and D, and senior and veteran championships. The MSL national championships and the 1st regional league, the second highest women’s league (SWHL B), and all youth leagues have yet to be canceled. The season ended with the latest signs that no relaxation of measures in the amateur field of contact sports is expected in the near future.
U-20: the team for the World Cup is over
The final Swiss squad for the U-20 World Cup in Edmonton (December 25-January 5) is known. Following Tuesday’s friendly against Austria, manager Marco Bayer eliminated defender Brian Zanetti (Peterborough Petes / OHL, CAN) and forwards Jérémie Bärtschi (Biel) and Mika Burkhalter (Bern) from the team. The Swiss U20 team goes to the World Cup with 3 goalkeepers, 9 defenders and 13 forwards. The first game will take place on December 25 against Slovakia.
