National League teams show no weaknesses in the sixteenth final of the Swiss Cup against lower-class players.
In the round of 32 of the Swiss Cup, two other National League teams advanced on Monday. Bern won 4-0 at EHC Basel and Geneva-Servette won 3-0 at La Chaux-de-Fonds.
The Christian Weber-trained Basler, third class in the championship, did well against SCB. They kept everything open until the middle of the game, losing 0-1. Grégory Sciaroni stood out as a two-time scorer. Dustin Jeffrey scored one goal and two assists. Strong goalkeeper Tim Guggisberg avoided a major defeat for EHC Basel, who were in seventh place in their league.
Servette continues too
In the championship, Bern and Basel last met in the 2007/08 season in National League A. Bern was then the best winner of the Round Robin (before early elimination in the playoffs, while Basel was dismissed with a record of less than 16 points in 50 games.
Like SC Bern at St. Jakob Arena, Geneva-Servette only started to break up at La Chaux-de-Fonds after 30 minutes.
