There is no clear game concept, few ideas from midfield and little determination: Super League club Lugano did not play well against Challenge League Schaffhausen, but came away with a black eye in the 1/16 final of the Swiss Cup.
It was only a Miroslav Covilo header 3 minutes before the end of extra time that made the decision at Schaffhausen. Covilo leapt into the air with great determination after a corner kick, leaving Schaffhausen goalkeeper David da Costa with no chance to defend himself.
90 minutes balanced
The match had started perfectly for Lugano: Austrian Sandi Lovric took advantage of an ideal assist from Alexander Gerndt in the 6th minute. But then Maurizio Jacobacci’s team failed to extend the lead.
Schaffhausen, who played with former Lugano Da Costa and Francisco Rodríguez players, benefited from this and tied the game in the 31st minute. Captain Imran Bunjaku, who had made a bad impression at 0-1, took a deep risk and sank a volley from the edge of the area into the goal of Lugano goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe.
