The turquoise giant makes its way slowly and steadily, rolling down a wooden pier and smaller boats. The luxury motor yacht Go then restarts and crashes back into the facility.
The 90 million franc ship should only dock at the St. Maarten Yacht Club on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten on Wednesday, according to the British newspaper “DailyMail”.
But the recordings show how the maneuver fails. Reason for double accident: on-board computer malfunction. “As most of you have already heard, there was an accident with a mega-yacht this morning,” the club writes on its website. No one was injured, but the damage was considerable. The yacht club does not give an exact number.
A surprise awaits in the belly of the megayacht
Whatever the cost of the repair, the megayacht owner will have no trouble paying the bill. Hans-Peter Wild (79), who lives in the canton of Zug, is a billionaire. The fortune of the head of Capri-Sonne is estimated at 2.9 billion francs. It is not known if the German was also on board when his yacht crashed.
The Go was completed in 2018. The 77 meter long and 13 meter wide ship has room for a crew of 19 people. On board there is a gym, a steam room and of course a helicopter landing pad. What’s special: Inside is a mini version of the Go. For excursions with a slightly smaller yacht. (hmh)
