Hamilton would have liked to claim his name exclusively as a brand for his products. But this was denied to his company 44IP by the European Union Office for Intellectual Property (EUIPO), as the British Daily Mail and Blick reported late last week. Swatch itself declined to comment on this decision on Monday at the request of the AWP news agency.

The American watch brand Hamilton, which belongs to the Swatch Group, thus retains the trademark rights. Company 44IP, which also wanted to offer watches, smartwatches and jewelry under the Hamilton name, now has to pay Swatch according to the information to cover the costs of the litigation.
Now seven times Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is already an ambassador for a Swiss watch brand. Announces watchmaker Schaffhausen IWC, which belongs to the Richemont Group.
