SVP Councilor Derek Richter briefed his council colleague Julia Hofstetter at the Kesb. The Greens are now calling for the resignation of the senior vice president politician.
On social media, a post by Green Councilor Julia Hofstetter is causing a stir right now. The Zurich politician writes on Facebook that a member of the SVP had blackened her at the Kesb. Specifically, the SVP politician filed a threat report against her because her 14-year-old daughter participated in the unauthorized climate demonstration in Bern. In a speech at the city council meeting on September 23, Hofstetter reported that she had to pick up her daughter at the Bern police station after the climate academy.
According to a statement from the city of Zurich’s Greens, the Kesb has concluded that the hazard report is irrelevant. In her post, Hofstetter condemned her council colleague’s action in the strongest possible terms. This is aimed at “gagging women”.
In his post, Hofstetter does not mention the full name of the SVP politician in question. The abbreviation ‘DR’ However, it can be concluded that this is SVP City Councilor Derek Richter. He had already expressed the disapproval of his colleague on the council after the aforementioned meeting of the municipal council on September 23.

At the request of the NZZ, Richter confirmed that he had submitted a threat report against Hofstetter to the Kesb. He denies that his action was politically motivated. Under the Swiss Civil Code, he is “obliged as a person with a mandate of public law to inform Kesb,” he writes. At the same time, he criticizes the fact that Kesb passed his name on to Hofstetter.
For the Greens of the city of Zurich, Richter is no longer sustainable with this action as a councilor. In a message, they call on the SVP and the “interested city council” to “take the necessary measures, resign and resign.” These people are “an embarrassment to Zurich and the city hall,” continue the Greens. According to Felix Moser, president of the Zurich Greens City Council, the party will raise the incident at the municipal council office. “However, we don’t have much more control,” says Moser. Legal and political means are limited in this regard.
Absolutely unacceptable! the @spzuerich stands in solidarity with the Councilor for the Greens and asks the Council for the Greens @SVP_Stadt_Zueri withdraw immediately. https://t.co/1wXY4104Gn

The executive vice president of the city of Zurich declined to comment on the case. She recently found out, said the president of the SVP of the city of Zurich and the national councilor, Mauro Tuena, upon request. In principle, however, Richter’s action has nothing to do with the party, as Richter denounced the threat as a private person.
