The German post has caused astonishment and annoyance among some BLICK readers in recent days. In the letter they received there is only one sheet of A4 paper with an affirmative slogan for the SVP limitation initiative. Postmarked in German, but without specific sender.
SVP campaign manager and National Councilor Esther Friedli (43, SG) made it clear that her party had nothing to do with shipping: “The SVP does not send mail via Deutsche Post under any circumstances.”
Criminal complaint for damage to reputation
After countless negative reactions, the SVP now goes one step further: it has filed a criminal complaint with the Bern canton police against unknown persons for damage to its reputation, as it writes in a message.
She suspects that it is “an action by political opponents” behind the office. “This with the aim of making the SVP implausible and damaging the limitation initiative.”
The party distances itself on all kinds of letters from Germany and “condemns the actions of the senders in the strongest possible terms.” The fact that the letter was also sent to deceased persons caused particular distress. “The senior vice president understands the recipient’s annoyance and concern,” the message read.
