So far there have only been approaches to what exactly the change should look like. The pilots work for SBB for several years and then come back. Or they work part time in both areas. Airlines and rail companies should now develop specific models. “Switzerland, the railways and politicians must now break new ground efficiently and without bureaucracy at this special time,” says Aeropers.
Similar skills are required
The associations believe that the professions are very similar. “The work of a train driver and pilot takes place in a complex work environment. Methodical and precise work is as important in both professions as quick comprehension and mental agility and stamina, ”says Aeropers media spokesperson Roman Kälin.
According to a spokesperson for the rail operator, an unusually large number of pilots are currently running. There is always a pilot in current training courses.
